Zaragoza B. Robles, lovingly known as "Zag," entered into eternal rest with the Lord on October 6, 2025 surrounded by his family, after a long and full life devoted to love, service, and community.
A proud graduate of Fox Tech High School, Class of 1954, Zag remained active in alumni reunions alongside his beloved wife, Elia. High school sweethearts, they married in 1960, a few years after Zag was honorably discharged from the U.S. Navy. Their bond, built on deep love and friendship, brought them joy throughout their many years together.
Zag served his country honorably as a veteran of the United States Navy. Following his military service, he dedicated 32 years to the San Antonio Police Department, where his courage, integrity, and deep sense of duty left a lasting mark on the department and the city he loved. Over the course of his career, he earned the respect and admiration of his colleagues and supervisors alike. As a mentor and trainer to many new motorcycle officers, Zag took great pride in sharing his knowledge and experience, shaping the next generation of policemen with patience, humor, and unwavering professionalism.
Outside of his service, Zag had a passion for classic cars. He delighted in collecting, restoring, and sharing them—each vehicle reflecting his meticulous care and appreciation for craftsmanship. He traveled to many cities and states to attend classic car shows with friends and family, creating lasting memories and lifelong friendships along the way. His enthusiasm brought people together through a shared love of the open road and timeless design.
Zag is survived by his devoted wife of 65 years, Elia R. Robles; his children, Jerry Robles and wife Patt, Roger Robles and wife Shannon, Kathy Gerhard and husband Greg, and Christine Robles; his sister, Gloria E. Robles; grandchildren, Kenton, Kellen, Jacob, and Grayson; and great-granddaughter, Emme. He will also be remembered fondly by numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
The Robles family extends their deepest gratitude to Christus VNA Hospice—especially his nurse, Tina Barron—and his dedicated caregiver, Laura Casarez, whose kindness, compassion, and care provided immense comfort during his final days.
Zag's life was defined by faith, family, and service. He will be remembered for his steadfast love, his sense of humor, and the legacy of integrity and devotion he leaves behind. Though he will be deeply missed, we take comfort in knowing he is now at peace, reunited with loved ones, and in the loving care of our Lord.
