Mr. William "Willie" Perez Segrest, Jr. age 69 of San Antonio passed away on Wednesday, September 21, 2016.
Mr. Segrest was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Mary Segrest. He is survived by his wife, Dolores Segrest; children, Patricia A. Rangel (Ronnie), Mary Margaret Acevedo (Paul), William Patrick Segrest; grandchildren, Ronnie Ryan Rangel, Paul Daniel Acevedo, Stephen Raul Acevedo, and Patrick James Segrest; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.
Willie, otherwise referred to as Papa by his grandchildren to whom he meant the world, was a man whose unconditional love for the people around him radiated in a way that was truly a treasure that had to be seen to be believed. Even the family dogs were naturally drawn to his warm and endearing nature.
Willie took the most pleasure in life's simplest luxuries, such as watching "America's Got Talent" with his loving wife, fishing with brother-in-law Dan, visiting with any of his three children or four grandsons, and of course, closely monitoring the safety of the neighborhood from his special chair in the living room.
Willie's love was only matched by his sense of humor and incredible strength. His grandchildren all agree that he was, without question, the strongest man they ever knew. Even in his last couple of days, at his weakest point, Willie managed to gather enough energy to keep up his trademark joke-cracking that his family had grown so accustomed to over the years.
Willie left behind a lifetime of wonderful memories for everyone who had the special privilege of knowing him. He will be deeply missed.
