Obituary

William John (Bill) Mack answered the call of God peacefully on March 6, 2020 after battling an aggressive form of cancer for the last six months.  Bill was born on August 30, 1936 in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

He was preceded in death by his loving daughter, Terri Ann Dockery and parents, Donald Rafael and Mary Alice Lucille Mack.

He is survived by his children; Jody Leal and husband Ray, Paul Mack and husband Jay Pantusa, Debbie Meyer and husband Mike.  In addition, eight grandchildren; Alec Dockery and wife Andrea, Jordan Dockery, Jack Dockery, A.J. Leal, Ana Leal, Chloe Mack, Carson Meyer, Kenady Meyer, and one great-grandson, Luke Dockery.  He is also survived by his siblings, Jimmy, Penny, Dennis and Ronnie Mack, his son-in-law Chuck Dockery and longtime friends Mike and Donna Thomas.

Having overcome the struggles of this life he is now in his new home enjoying the music of Frank Sinatra, Bobby Darin, Ella Fitzgerald, Barbara Streisand and having a beer with John Wayne.

Bill had an unwavering faith in God which gave him the strength to successfully raise his four children as a single parent and to survive the death of his daughter Terri to breast cancer.  By example, he taught his family and friends the true meaning of unconditional love.  He was devoted to his children and grandchildren, always being there when they needed him to provide an encouraging word, moral support, and to celebrate their victories.  He was proud of their accomplishments and never missed an opportunity to tell how proud he was of them.  He was famous for his hearty hugs and for being the first one to call and wish you a happy birthday.  His children playfully teased him but he loved every minute of the time he spent with them.

Bill enjoyed visiting the library, spending time in prayer at the Blessed Sacrament adoration chapel or just remaining silent in church listening to God.

He had a successful sales career and upon retirement went back to work as a substitute teacher in the Northeast School District for 21 years. He enjoyed the time he spent helping children while fulfilling his need to stay busy and remain useful even through the early days of cancer treatment.

He will be profoundly missed by his family, but they take comfort in knowing that he is finally at peace and in the presence of God and reunited with his daughter Terri and family and friends that have gone before him. God bless you dad and thank you for all you did for us. Until we meet again.
