Virginia "Jeannie" Rodriguez, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend, entered into eternal rest on February 25, 2024. She was born on May 2, 1933 to Arthur S. Rodriguez, Sr. and Ercilia Rivera Rodriguez. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Edward Rodriguez, son James Rodriguez, sisters Marie Kotzur and Veronica "Virginia" Rodriguez, O.P., and brothers Arthur, Andrew, and Tony. She is survived by her daughter, Ivy Young (Chuck Anderson); son, Wayne Rodriguez (Cindy); grandson, Kristofer (Lori); granddaughter, Chardae Mollere Rodriguez; several cousins, and dozens of nieces and nephews, for many of whom she was Godmother.
She was a proud descendant of Salvador Rodriguez, one of the original settlers from the Canary Islands who came to San Antonio in 1731, and a member of the Alamo Mission Chapter of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas.
Virginia was a lifelong resident of San Antonio. Her life was devoted to her family, church, and community. She graduated from Incarnate Word High School in 1951 and was a successful small business entrepreneur. She most recently resided at the Village at Incarnate Word. As the last of her generation, Virginia was the matriarch and an admirable example for her entire family with how she lived and loved everyone. Her greatest joy in life was being with family.
She had a long history of personally contributing to the economic development of Bexar County and South Texas through the business she built with her husband. Virginia, with Edward, affectionately known to many as Honey, supported the surveying, engineering, and construction industries of South Texas for over five decades through their local business, Easy Drive Stake Manufacturing Co.
Virginia humbly supported several local Catholic churches and school programs, including the PTA at Central Catholic and Providence High School. She organized CYA leagues and coached girl's softball, volleyball, and track. She was active in her homeowner's associations and a longtime administrator in the Downtowners Association.
