Virginia Winifred Carrola (Perigo) lived to be a true Centenarian, celebrating her 100th birthday on September 14, 2023. She transcended to her eternal garden in heaven on May 23, 2024.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Mark Carrola and Leeroy Seefeldt, and sons, Mark, Jr. (Buddy), Michael John (Mike), and Joseph Anthony (Joe).
She was born September 14, 1923, in West Helena, Arkansas, to Emery W. Perigo and Minnie Bradley.
She is survived by her daughter, Patricia (Dan Walker), son, Andy (Josie), and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
"Arkansas Girl" meets "Texas Boy" - Virginia met Mark when he was in West Helena, Arkansas, for a baseball game with the Helena Seaporters of the Cotton State League. Virginia and Mark married in San Antonio on September 26, 1941, and had five children.
She taught kindergarten for 36 years at St. Cecilia's in San Antonio, Texas, and was proud that she taught multiple generations of the same families. Her love and passion was teaching.
She was an accomplished gardener and had a reputation for being able to grow anything. She made it a point to plant in pairs in case she wanted to give one away.
Virginia's children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren loved her spaghetti dinners. Countless memories were created sitting around the table filled with conversations, laughter, the most delicious meatballs, and an ever-full bowl of pasta!
In recent years, she has been an avid bird watcher. Thanks to Dan Walker for keeping the bird feeder in her window at the nursing home full. This gave her great joy every day.
The family extends its gratitude to the staff at Windemere at Westover Hills for their care and compassion over the past years.
"She has now transcended to her eternal garden in heaven in which she will truly flourish for evermore."
She will be missed by all who loved her or knew and loved her.
