Valentin Valdez, Sr. (Vale) of San Antonio, TX was called to continue his journey of life in eternity with our Heavenly Father at the age of 96. Born in Laredo, TX on December 15, 1917, Vale was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 64 years, Josefina, his eldest son, Valentin Valdez, Jr., his mother and father, Enrique and Angelina (Vela) Valdez, and five brothers. He is lovingly remembered by his sisters, Octavia and Olivia, his surviving 10 children, 36 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Valentin was a dedicated veteran of the Army Air Corp and civil service, a Knight of Columbus, and an Optimist. As a husband and father, he had a knack for telling it like it is. Driven by a belief in justice and a strong desire to ensure fairness, he led with purpose. He was a connoisseur of fine chocolates, perfumes, and tobacco. Visitation will be at the Angelus Chapel, Wed. Dec. 17 at 4pm with a Rosary to follow at 7pm. Funeral Mass will be at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, Thursday at 9:30 a.m. with internment to follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
