Tina Marie Hughes, beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend joined the angels on July 26, 2019 at the young age of 51. She was born on March 3, 1968 in San Antonio, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Virginia Hughes. She is survived by her two daughters, Cecilia Marie Idar and Isabel Marie Santana, granddaughter Corina Faith Garcia, son-in-Law Lupe Garcia, boyfriend Javier Barro, sisters Cynthia Hughes, Billie Jo Bass and Siobhan Hughes, brothers-in-law Mitch Bass and Javier Vargas. Nieces and Nephew, Emily Bass, Sophia Vargas and Ethan Bass. Aunts and Uncles, Marcelino and Pearl Montez, Mary Olga Carrigo, Ernest and Ester Hughes, and numerous cousins and their families.
Tina is a graduate of John Jay High School. She worked at USAA for 16 years as a Consumer Account Specialist. Prior to joining USAA, she also worked at QVC, and Sygma in customer service. She was a single mother to Cecilia and Isabel. She loved going to the coast and the river. Dancing to Country and Tejano music. And spending time with family and friends. She was a diehard Cowboys and Spurs fan. She was a force of nature. You always knew when she came into a room. She had a huge heart which in the end was not big enough to contain all of the love she had for everyone.
This was a difficult year for Tina. In February Tina was diagnosed with a rare disease called Guillain-Barre Syndrome (GBS) which challenged her mobility and brought attention to some issues with her heart. In an effort to fix her heart, a heart catheterization was performed. She had major compilations. Just when we thought she was on the road to recovery; she went into cardiac arrest and God called her home. She is now singing with the angels and is with her parents and grandparents.
