Obituary

Teresa Rangel Garcia, surrounded by her daughters at her side passed peacefully from this world and into the next on Thursday, July 23, 2020. She was 90 years old. Teresa was born to Felipe and Cirila Rangel on November 3, 1929 in Houston, TX and she spent her early years in Sugar Land, TX until her family moved to Cementville in San Antonio.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 57 years, Arturo H. Garcia. Teresa is survived by her daughters Yolanda Martinez (Joe), Olivia Martinez (David), Martha Vera (Tom), Mary Helen Votion (Mario), Isabel Luna (Jorge), 8 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

Teresa was an excellent seamstress and cook. She was a dedicated wife and mother and always made sure her family never lacked anything especially love. She was a devout Catholic with a faithful love for God and our Blessed Mother. She was a life-long dedicated parishioner at St Anthony de Padua Catholic Church for 75 years where she sang in the choir for many years. She was loved by all and she loved everyone.

In 1960, she experienced a Cursillo retreat that changed her life forever. From that experience, as a Cursillista, she evangelized to many family members and friends. She was a woman of great faith and never doubted when facing impossible challenges. Mom left a solid imprint on us, her children to follow. We will miss her, but we rejoice that she is now enjoying her rightful place in heaven and holding hands with dad again forever!

The family would like to thank Stephen Greenfield, PA, and the staff at Wellmed Clinic who gave her excellent care, Trinity Hospice and 2 special caretakers, her niece, Gloria Rangel and cousin, Maria Isabel (Chavela) Lerma. Also, a special thank you to the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart Priests for their continued prayer and support.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday July 29, 2020 from 10:00a.m. to 11:00a.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 11:00a.m.  The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:30a.m. all services will be held at St. Anthony de Padua Catholic Church.
