Sylvia Jane Rodriquez age 66 of Lubbock, Texas passed away on Saturday, December 21, 2019.  Sylvia graduated from John F. Kennedy High School in 1971 and attended St. Philip's College from 1972-1974 where she majored in voice and music.  She was known as Birdie because her voice was immaculate and she sang like an opera singer.

She is survived by her husband, Jose Daniel Rodriquez; children, Sybil Nixon Barrientos and Roque Barrientos, Tammy Ann Nixon Olveda and Erine Olveda, Bill-Jacob Nixon, Justin-Ryan Nixon and Victoria Nixon; parents, Richard C. and Aurora H. Baca; grandchildren, Matthew Rodriguez, Joaquin Barrientos, Julian Barrientos, Michael Olveda, Kendra Olveda, Scott Nixon; sisters, Patricia B. Pena and Rolando J. Pena, and Cynthia B. Arevalo.

FUNERAL SERVICES

Visitation will begin on Sunday, December 29, at 4:00 P.M. with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 P.M. at the Angelus Chapel.  Funeral Mass will be offered on Monday, December 30, at 10:00 A.M. at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church.  Interment will follow in San Fernando Archdiocesan Cemetery # 2.
