Stella Bernice Lawson went to be with the Lord on June 13, 2016 at the age of 70 with her children by her side. She was born January 23, 1946 in San Antonio to a large and loving family and raised in Bandera, TX. She was preceded in death by her parents, Victor and Catherine (Mazurek) Wilson and her brother Victor Wilson.
Stella's legacy continues with her daughters and sons, Stephanie Kwan (Chris) of San Antonio; Anthony Lawson of San Antonio; Michael Lawson (Julia) of Carrollton, TX; and Veronica Lawson of San Antonio; and grandchildren Camille, Aidan and Lauren Kwan. She is also survived by her siblings Catherine Hickman (Richard), Roberta Guelich (Robert), Joseph Wilson (Claire), brother-in-law Ronnie Lawson (Rhonda), and numerous nieces and nephews.
Stella graduated from Bandera High School and soon after married Gregory Arnold Lawson, who preceded her in death in 1986. She was a long-time member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church and spent 29 years working for Culpepper Cleaners. Stella enjoyed cooking and baking new recipes, reading mystery novels, watching classic movies, nurturing her ever expanding garden, and traveling, whether it was a day trip to Fredericksburg, across the country, or across the world to Ireland.
Since she was a small girl, Stella held a special devotion to the Blessed Mother. This devotion to Mary sustained and strengthened her throughout her life. She passed on this passion of persevering faith and fortitude to her children and grandchildren.
She cherished time spent with her children and grandchildren and always expressed a grateful spirit and truly appreciated life.
Stella was a beloved mother, friend, aunt, sister and grandmother, and she has given her loved ones comforting memories of her courage in life and dedication to family. In spirit we know that she is still with us, and she remains in our hearts.
