Sister Filomena was born August 10, 1921 at Hacienda del Rincon, Jalisco - Archdiocese of Guadalajara, Mexico. She passed away peacefully to eternal life on October 2, 2015 at the age of 94. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ubaldo Rincon and Maria de Jesus Robledo; 3 brothers, Carlos, Francisco, and Jose. She is survived by her religious community, her niece, Otilia Rincon who accompanied her the last week of her life and other relatives who reside in Mexico. Sister Filomena entered the Congregation of Mercedarian Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament in Guadalajara, Jalisco in 1940. Having professed her vows in Mexico City, she was sent to San Antonio, Texas where she worked along with her community of Sisters and the children in the learning centers and schools. She also worked in Oklahoma, Corpus Christi, California, and Mexico. Sister was a caring and joyful person who enjoyed singing, arts and crafts, cooking, and especially gardening. Her past-time in her later years was crocheting and knitting. Sister Filomena will be greatly missed by her community and friends whom she enjoyed sharing anecdotes with. FUNERAL SERVICES Visitation will begin on Monday, October 5, at 5:00 PM with the recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 PM at the Convent-227 Keller Street. Funeral Mass will be offered on Tuesday, October 6, at 10:15 AM at the Convent. Interment will follow at San Fernando Archdiocesan Cemetery No. 2. In lieu of flowers, monetary donations will be received for continued Masses for her eternal repose.
