Sister Anthony of the Sacred Heart Ebell (Lydia Apolonia Ebell) entered into eternal life on August 13, 2024. She was born on June 13, 1922 in Roy, New Mexico to Bonifacio Ebell and Margarita Naranjo.

She entered the Congregation of the Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in 1938 and professed her first vows on July 25, 1940, making perpetual profession on July 25, 1946.

Sr. Anthony was an elementary school teacher most of her life. Nothing, however, was more rewarding to her than the years she spent working with pregnant teens in the Edgewood Independent School District. She also worked in pastoral ministry.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Bonifacio and Margarita Ebell, and her brothers Daniel I, Eloy, Horacio, Bonifacio, Lina, Andrés, Enrique, Hilario, and Daniel.  She is survived by many nieces and nephews and the Sisters of her religious congregation.

Services will be held at the Church of the Holy Spirit on Friday, August 23, 2024. The Rosary will be at 9:30 a.m. and the Mass of the Resurrection at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be at the SSCJ Memorial Garden.
