Sister Eugenius Gallagher, SHSp died peacefully at her home, the Convent of the Sisters of the Holy Spirit and Mary Immaculate, on January 6, 2023.  Born on September 30, 1928 in County Sligo, Ireland, she was the beloved daughter of Denis and Margaret Gallagher.  Although, her baptismal name was Imelda Mary, she was affectionately called "Stella" by her family and close friends.

Her intellectual, creative and artistic gifts truly shone through her with the light of a star during her many assignments as an elementary school teacher and administrator in Catholic schools in Texas, Louisiana and Mississippi.  She was professed as a Sister of the Holy Spirit and Mary Immaculate in 1950 and spent her ministerial years enlightening students' minds and beautifying the world around her.

Sr. Eugenius is mourned by her brother, Ray Gallagher (Co. Sligo, Ireland), her sisters, Celeste Doyle and Fleur Cottrell (England), her nephews and nieces and by her religious community.

A Rosary will be recited at 3:00pm on Tuesday, January 10 ^th . This will be followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 4:00pm in the Motherhouse Chapel, 300 Yucca Street, San Antonio, Texas. She will be interred in the Community Cemetery.

Donations can be made in Sister Eugenius' memory to the ministries of the Sisters of the Holy Spirit and Mary Immaculate.
