Sr. Maria de la Luz Reyes, FMA, age 91, a native of Saltillo, Coahuila, Mexico, died peacefully Thursday, April 6, 2017 at the Provincial House in San Antonio, TX. She was preceded by her parents, Pascual Reyes and Maria de la Luz Espindola de Reyes and her three brothers: Pascual, Enrique and Jose de Jesus Reyes. She is survived by her younger sister, Sr. Maria Socorro Reyes, also an FMA, and by loving nieces and nephews.

Sr. Maria de la Luz served the Lord and youth with joyful enthusiasm. She served in the following Texas cities of Raymondville, San Antonio, San Marcos, and primarily in Laredo, where she taught catechism classes passionately to youth and adults. When she could no longer be in active ministry due to her health, she lived at the Provincial House where she continued evangelizing by word and example to workers in the house and to visitors that came to see her.

Her community and all the Salesian Sisters will miss her for her pious demeanor and witty conversations.
