Sister Jean Cuellar (Sister Juan Diego de Guadalupe), born Maria de Lourdes Cuellar, on January 8, 1923, in San Antonio, Texas, died on July 11, 2016, at the age of 93. She was a Sister of the Sacred Heart of Jesus for 69 years. She spent her religious life in education, pastoral ministry, and clerical services in San Antonio, Houston, Floresville, and San Juan, Texas. Sister Jean was an excellent teacher, a talented seamstress, and a gourmet cook. She ministered to everyone with her kindness, ready wit, and deep faith in Our Lady of Guadalupe.

Sr. Jean was preceded in death by her parents, Juan F. and Eulalia (Valdez) Cuellar, her brothers, Jesus M. Cuellar and John Cuellar, her sisters, Mary C. Sereno, and Trinidad Solis.  She is survived by her brothers, Mariano F. Cuellar and Jose Luis Cuellar, her sisters-in-law, and numerous relatives.

Visitation will begin Wednesday at 4:00 P.M. at The Angelus Chapel with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 P.M. Funeral Mass will be offered Thursday at 10:00 A.M. at Holy Spirit Catholic Church. Interment will follow in the Cemetery of the Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
