Sr. Ida Chagin, FMA, age 102, a native of Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico, died peacefully August 29, 2018 at the Provincial House in San Antonio, TX. She was preceded in death by her parents, Gabriel Chagin and Naguive Simon and her three brothers and three sisters. She is survived by a good number of grandnieces and nephews.

Sr. Ida joyfully served the Lord and youth with great passion and enthusiasm. In her 76 years of consecrated life, she primarily served at Mary Help of Christians School in Laredo, TX and St. John Bosco School in San Antonio, TX. She was also very active in Port Chester, N.Y. as well as in Baton Rouge and Marrero, Louisiana. When she could no longer be in active ministry, she was transferred to the Provincial House in San Antonio, where she maintained contact with students, past pupils and friends.

Sr. Ida will be greatly missed by her community and all the Salesian Sisters. With her serene and angelic smile she endeared herself to all those who approached her because she became interested in them lending a listening ear and always giving a word of encouragement to each one.

FUNERAL SERVICES

The visitation will be held on Friday, August 31, 2018 beginning at 5:00 p.m.at the Salesian Sisters' Provincial House, 6019 Buena Vista St. in San Antonio, TX with the Rosary beginning at 7:00 p.m. The Mass of the Resurrection is scheduled for Saturday, September 1, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at the Provincial House. Interment will follow at San Fernando Archdiocesan Cemetery No. 2 in San Antonio.
