At the invitation of the Marianist brothers and priests in Chester, Pennsylvania, she became a lay Marianist, with private vows. At the age of 37, she made the decision to become a religious in the Marianist Sisters, professing first vows in 1968. She received a Bachelor's degree in English from St. Mary's University in 1973, cum laude.
During her years of ministry Sr. Eileen served for 5 years as dorm directress of Dougherty Hall at St. Mary's University, where she also worked with Sodality and Affiliates. This was followed by several years working in retreat centers in both San Antonio and Dayton, Ohio. She continued as a spiritual director for many years after that, at Oblate's Ministry to Ministers Program in San Antonio, and offering directed retreats as well. Her ministries also included being secretary for a year at Assumption Seminary, being secretary at the University of Dayton Campus Ministry, on the Marianist Sisters Formation Team, and 5 years as Provincial Superior.
Once retired, she volunteered, offering her time and talent as a volunteer at MACC, then the Mexican American Cultural Center in San Antonio, and at NACMS, the North American Center for Marianist Studies in Dayton. Since 2013, she has resided at the St. Francis Nursing Home until her death. The Marianist Sisters are most grateful for the wonderful care she received at St. Francis Nursing Home.
