Sister Carmen Rodriguez Perez, a Mercedarian Sister of the Blessed Sacrament, was taken to heaven at 4:15 PM on October 20, 2022.  She was a resident at Saint Francis Nursing Home since 2012.  She was born in Detroit, Michigan on January 16, 1931.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. Porfirio Rodriguez, and Mrs. Cruz Perez.

Sister Mary is survived by her sisters: Dolores Castilla and Carmen Bustamente; cousins, nephews, and nieces.  She was the first child of seven children.

Sister Mary was a teacher, catechist, and missionary for many years and in many parishes of San Antonio and Corpus Christ, TX.  She served the Community of the Mercedarian Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament at Blessed Sacrament Learning Center and St. Phillip's Catholic School in San Antonio, TX; Holy Family School in Corpus Christi, TX; Mount Saint Joseph in Barstow, CA and in Mexicali, CA.  She retired at St. Francis Nursing Home in San Antonio, TX due to her age and illness.

She entered the Mercedarian Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament on December 28, 1945, and professes, after for formation years, on December 28, 1955 in San Antonio, TX, USA.  She pronounced her perpetual vows March 19, 1951.  With joy she celebrated her silver jubilee in 1970, her golden jubilee in 1995 and her diamond jubilee in 2020.

We thank her doctor, nurses, providers and the Sisters of Our Lady of Seraphic that took care of her during her illness.

FUNERAL SERVICES

The Rosary will be recited at 227 Keller Street

followed by the Funeral Mass at 12:00 noon at the Convent Chapel.

Mass will be presided by Rev. Father Surafiel OdeFCapp.

Interment will follow at

San Fernando Archdiocesan Cemetery No.II.

MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS

In lieu of flowers, monetary donations will be received to benefit her beloved Congregation.
