Sister Eileen Mannion died peacefully at her home, Convent of the Holy Spirit and Mary Immaculate, on Saturday, February 10, 2024 after a lifetime of grace and service.

Born on July 6,1934 in Abbeyknockmoy, County Galway, Ireland, she was the daughter of John and Eileen Mannion.  In 1950, at the age of 16, she left her beloved Ireland and entered the congregation during the "golden era" of religious vocations.   She spent her ministerial life as a teacher and administrator during the "golden era" of Catholic schools in Texas, Louisiana and Mississippi.  During her 72 years of religious profession, she worked with children and families whose lives were not always "golden".  She used the vehicle of education to help her students gain the skills they would need to live lives of purpose and generosity.  During her retirement years, she lived in the Formation House where she companioned women who were discerning religious life, fed the community and nurtured a beautiful garden.  Hers was a "golden life" indeed!

Sister Eileen is mourned by her brother, Kevin Mannion and her sister, Annie Conneely, her many beloved nieces, nephews and their families, her religious community and her many friends.

A Rosary will be said at 10:00 A.M and the Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 A.M at the Motherhouse Chapel, 300 Yucca, San Antonio, TX.  She will be interred in the Community Cemetery.
