Selma Treviño passed away peacefully and entered her heavenly home on December 3, 2020 surrounded by loved ones. Selma was born May 11, 1925, in Uvalde, Texas to Pablo and Alvina Perez. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She is survived by her children: Virginia Gunn (Anthony), Beverly Gonzales (Jimmy), Richard Treviño (Marilyn), and Robert Treviño (Donna); 8 grandchildren: Kimberly Jolly, Jason Gunn, Jeffrey, Bryan and Eric Gonzales, Richard Vincent, Katelyn and Tanner Treviño; 6 great grandchildren, Lukaia and Lincoln Jolly, and Ashlyn, Breena, Laney, and Everly Gunn; sisters Irene Canales and Yolanda Salazar, in addition to numerous nieces and nephews. Selma was preceded in death by her loving husband of 70 years, Richard Treviño, her mother, Alvina, and her 4 siblings: Pauline Mata, Vera Trillo, Sam Togo and Raul Hinojosa.
Our Mother was a lady with an infectious laugh and a vivacious personality. She was graceful and elegant. Mom was a charming woman who had a knack for conversations and was very outgoing. When she walked into a room, it lit up with her presence, and she was passionate about giving her time to others. She was always there for those who needed her. Mom was a faithful Christian who was influential in her walk with the Lord. She and Dad were our first examples, as young children, of what it meant to have Christ in our lives and in our home. She loved sharing God with others and the many blessings He has bestowed on our family. She and Dad were members of Castle Hills First Baptist Church for many years and they spent many beautiful times of fellowship with their friends. To all those who knew Mom, thank you. We are so grateful for the part you played in her life. She truly treasured your friendships. Mom was a dedicated mother and homemaker who continuously gave of herself. She was an excellent seamstress, an avid gardener and she enjoyed baking, canning and shopping. She became a hairdresser after her youngest child started school and enjoyed this profession for many years. Later, she became a realtor for Elaine Ludwig Realty. Mom loved being around people and making new friendships. She was a member of the Regina Guild and the Musical Guild of San Antonio. Our mothers are God's angels that He has sent to show us how much He loves us. As children whenever we "erred", Mom was always there with a loving correction. As we grew into adolescence, she provided advice, but allowed us to make our own mistakes. When those occurred, she was there to comfort and console. As adults, her experience was invaluable as we transitioned through our own stages of life. We will always be grateful for her lessons in life.
Many thanks to the wonderful staff of Heart of Texas Hospice who made Mom's last few years and especially these last few weeks, be filled with love and compassion. To Dr. Angelica Esquivel Davila, her special nurse, Amy Williams, and Madison, her aide, a heartfelt thank you for the exceptional care given to our Mother. To Amanda, our friend, thank you for the six years of dedicated help with Mom and for the kindness and joy you gave her. You shared the same birthday and you both celebrated together! To our dear friend Marina Perez Villarreal, thank you for the time you gave to our Mother.
