The Celebration of Life for Sara Diaz Limon continues. On March 2, 2023, our beloved mother Sara Diaz Limon was called to Heaven at the age of 94 years old. She passed away at home with the presence of her family and friends at her bedside.
It all began when Sara was born on August 1, 1928 to her mother, Maria Hernandez and her father, Agustin Diaz. Sara was born and raised in Carrizo Springs, Texas, the youngest of 7 children; her 4 brothers were Guadalupe Diaz, Manuel Diaz, Eugenio Diaz, and Ramon Diaz and her 2 sisters were Maria Diaz (Candelaria) and Alicia Diaz (Leija). When the family moved to San Antonio, Texas, Sara was already working at a very young age. One day Sara and her sisters went on an outing to Brackenridge Park and she met a young man named Raul Limon. Raul was an active military man and was serving his country in the United States Air Force. They fell in love and were married on December 31, 1950.
After Raul completed his military service, Sara and Raul decided to build their home to raise a family. They had 5 children, 4 sons and 1 daughter. In 1991, Raul died at the young age of 63. Our parents instilled strong traditional values as well as a Christianity upbringing. They made sure that the children had a good education. Our mother Sara continued on with her life and her work and dedicated herself to her family. Over the years as the children married, Sara was blessed with numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, she loved them all. Sara had a tradition of sending out birthday cards to all of us and even into our older years.
Sara worked many years with Rosemary Kowalski who was in the catering business. Sara would work various conventions in San Antonio, Texas and also became politically involved in community and church services. She was active with the Communities Organized for Public Service (COPS) and with Immaculate Conception Catholic Church (Las Guadalupanas). Sara loved to cook for the family especially when the children would come to visit her. She also had a love for music and loved to dance; her husband Raul was her lifetime dancing partner. Sara aged graciously and passed away in her sleep.
Sara Diaz Limon is survived by her children: Jose Limon (Mary), Luis Limon (Maria), Esther Limon Velez (Joe), David Limon (Esther) and Daniel Limon (Laura); numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Sara leaves a legacy of love, determination, and righteousness to all of us.
Special thanks to VITAS Healthcare for their professionalism and caring for our mother Sara for the last 4 months.
