Obituary

Beloved mother and grandmother Santos P. Lopez, age 94 of San Antonio, passed away on Tuesday, April 11, 2023. She was born in Pearsall, Texas to Luciano and Santos Pena and was the last surviving member of her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers, and her husband, Reynaldo Lopez.

She is survived by her daughters, Rosaelia Trevino and husband Gilberto, Yvonne Dominguez and husband David, Yolanda Segovia and husband Rudy, Linda Flores and husband Jesse, Darla Salmon and husband Joseph; grandchildren, Stephen, Diane, Pamela, David Jr, Marco, Vincent, Jalen, Joshua, Austin; and 9 great-grandchildren.

Santos was known to many as Nena, but she will always be Mom, Grandma, and Nana to us. Anyone who met her knew immediately that her greatest love was her family. Her home was always a welcoming place for sleepovers, family events, and celebrations; surprise visits were always appreciated, no matter the time of day or night. She had a gift of making everyone she met feel loved, cherished, valued, and welcomed.

Santos enjoyed going on road trips, fishing (especially in Rockport), celebrating holidays, and simply spending time with her loved ones. Santos was very creative and enjoyed working with ceramics, paint, jewelry, and arts and crafts projects and shared these passions with her children and grandchildren. Once her own children were grown, she started working at University United Methodist Day School. She enjoyed working with the children at the daycare and they were treated like her own. Her greatest joys came from raising her family, spending time with grandchildren, and working with the children at the daycare. Santos was beautiful inside and out, and she will be greatly missed.
