Obituary

Salvador "SOL" Ortiz age 76 passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 21, 2017. He was born on a ranch near Jourdanton, Texas to Mary Rodriguez and Pedro Ortiz. Preceding him in death are his parents and stepfather José L. Felan and brother Pedro Leonardo Ortiz. Sol graduated from Edison High School and attended San Antonio College where he met his one and only love, his future wife.

He was commissioned in the military, achieving the rank of Army Captain.  Our adventurous loving papa shared a joy of airplanes, weapons, hunting, fishing, sketching, dancing, and was known for an extra dry wit.  He began employment with the City of San Antonio Youth Services Program and after many distinguished years of service and advocacy to young adults in San Antonio, he retired from the Bexar County Adult Probation Community Supervision - Zero Tolerance Facility.

He is survived by his loving and cherished wife of 49 years Charlene Doria-Ortiz, his kind and thoughtful daughter Andrea Nicole Ortiz, 2 grandpugs, his 2 half-brothers, numerous brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews both in the United States, as well as, England, and so many wonderfully diverse treasured friends and supportive neighbors.  Extra special gracias to his best-friend since high school: José Fuentes.
