Rosendo Vargas Jr. peacefully went with the Lord on January 1st, 2026, surrounded by the warmth and love of his cherished daughters and his devoted wife.
Rosendo was born on June 8th, 1938, in San Antonio, Texas, to his parents Rosendo Vargas Sr. and Brigida Corpus. Rosendo was a remarkable individual whose life was filled with dedication and passion. From the tender age of eight, he harbored a deep desire to serve his country in the military, a dream that led him to join the U.S. Marine Corps in 1955. His commitment was unwavering, as he served with distinction for four active years, followed by four years in the reserves, embodying the true spirit of a patriot. He was a proud marine, maintaining strong friendships with those he met during his service and guiding other Marines throughout his life.
Beyond his military service, Rosendo found immense joy in the simple yet fulfilling tasks of working on his home and yard. He took great pride in his home renovation projects, constantly striving to improve and beautify his living space. His love for football was evident, as he passionately supported the Dallas Cowboys and University of Notre Dame every Saturday and Sunday, sharing his enthusiasm with those around him. He was a devout Catholic from birth, and he cherished his Catholic faith until the very end.
Rosendo's life was a testament to his hardworking nature, his love for his country, and his dedication to creating a warm and inviting home for everyone he met. His legacy is one of pride, service, and the joy found in everyday endeavors.
He is survived by his loving wife and mother of his children, Isabel Vargas (Rodriguez), his children Diana Briseno and Sylvia Rael (Louis), his grandchildren: Jessica Briseno, Alexander Briseno, Cynthia Rael, and Kathryn Rael, and his sister, Gloria Garza.
