In Loving Memory of Rosalba Díaz Martínez
With profound sadness and enduring love, the family of Rosalba Díaz Martínez announces her passing. A beloved daughter, sister, aunt, mother, grandmother, and friend, Rosalba leaves behind a family forever shaped by the strength of her love, the honesty of her words, and the unmistakable spirit with which she lived her life.
Above all, Rosalba was a mother and grandmother.
She loved her family fiercely and without reservation. Their protection, happiness, and progress were among the greatest priorities of her life. To be loved by Rosalba was to know that someone was always in your corner—someone who would worry about you, advocate for you, celebrate you, tell you exactly what she thought, and do everything within her power to make sure you were cared for.
Even throughout her illness, when she had every reason to focus upon herself, Rosalba remained concerned with the needs and desires of those she loved. That selflessness spoke to the very heart of her character. Her family remained her focus, her concern, and her greatest source of pride.
Rosalba was also wonderfully and unapologetically herself. She was a spitfire, honest with her words and her feelings, and blessed with a sharp wit that those who knew her will not soon forget. She could be spirited and strong-willed, tender and caring, sometimes all within the same conversation. There was little uncertainty about where you stood with Rosalba—and there was even less uncertainty about how deeply she loved you.
She leaves that love as her greatest legacy.
Rosalba was born Rosalba Martínez Zapata on December 28, 1956 and was called to be with our Lord on August 28, 2026.
She is preceded in death by her father, Samuel Martínez Hernández, and her mother, Adelina Anselma Zapata García.
Rosalba is survived by her oldest son, Rafael Díaz, Jr., and his wife, Marisa Pérez-Díaz, and their children, Catalina Yaretzi Díaz-Pérez, Rafael Díaz-Pérez, IV, and Santiago Jadiel Díaz-Pérez; and her younger son, Daniel Díaz, and his wife, Daniela Díaz, and their children, Boston Daniel Díaz and Vida Lina Rose Díaz.
Her five grandchildren held an especially treasured place in her heart. Through them, and through the lives of her sons, the love Rosalba poured so generously into her family will continue forward for generations.
She is also survived by her brothers, Juan Martínez, his two sons, and his wife, Gloria Martínez, and her daughter and son; Jose Martínez and his wife, Susana Margarita Martínez, and their two sons; and Samuel Martínez and his wife, Sapopan "Popi" Martínez, and their son and daughter.
Rosalba is further survived by her sister, Maria del Carmen Ramón, and her son and four daughters; and her sisters-in-law, Sandra Martínez, and her two sons and daughter; Ileana Díaz Pérez, her daughter, and her husband, Juan López.
She also leaves behind extended family members and dear friends whose lives were touched by her humor, honesty, generosity, and unmistakable presence.
Although her family now grieves the absence of her physical presence, they will continue to find her in countless places: in the laughter of her grandchildren, in a familiar expression, in family gatherings and stories retold, in lessons passed from one generation to the next, and in the instinct to fiercely protect and care for those they love.
For a woman who spent so much of her life making sure her family was all right, perhaps the most fitting tribute is that they will continue forward carrying the very things she gave them—her strength, her determination, her humor, and, most importantly, her love.
Rosalba was deeply loved. She will be profoundly missed. And she will remain forever present in the family she loved so fiercely.
