Rosa Maria Saldaña, the fierce and funny heartbeat of her family, passed away peacefully on December 15, 2025, at the age of 74. She was surrounded by the family she loved so dearly, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, laughter, and unbreakable devotion.

​Born in San Antonio to Santiago and Arcadia Lopez, Rosa Maria spent her life cultivating a home where everyone felt they belonged. She was a woman of sharp intelligence and even sharper wit; her quick sarcasm and humorous spirit could light up a room and bring a smile to anyone's face. Above all, she was defined by her maternal protective instincts—a "mama bear" who lived to shield and support those she held dear.

​Some of her favorite moments were the simplest ones: the excitement of her slot games on her tablet or the quiet comfort of sharing a cup of coffee with her beloved husband, Joe.

​Rosa Maria is survived by her devoted husband, Joe Saldaña Jr.; her children, Mary Jane (Andy) Gonzalez, Jose (Cynthia) Saldaña, Mark (Loretta) Saldaña, and Ruby (Gabriel) Mendoza. She also leaves behind her siblings, Ernesto (Blasa) Lopez, Elida (Ramon) Escamilla, and Gloria (Rodrigo) Saldaña.

​The true lights of her life were her 13 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews who adored her. She joins her parents and her brothers and sisters who preceded her in death, finding peace once again in their company.

​Her kindness, her strength, and her spirited stories will live on in the traditions her family carries forward. She was our protector and our joy, and she will be deeply missed.
