Obituary

Ronald Irving Greenberg

January 16, 1940 – May 31, 2026

Ron Greenberg, 86, passed away surrounded by his beloved family on May 31, 2026. Ron was born to Arthur and Vera Greenberg in Chattanooga Tennessee. His family moved many times during his younger years for his father's job opening and managing retail outlets across the country. Ron was the youngest of three boys, Maj. Gen. Paul Greenberg (deceased) Les Greenberg (deceased). They finally settled in Texas in 1956 and Ron attended Texas A&M University. In 1962 Ron enlisted in the U.S. Army and was deployed to Vietnam. Upon his return from Vietnam Ron went to work in luxury retail first for the Pincus Company and later opened his own boutique.

In the early 1980's Ron traded retail for real estate and with a group of partners opened Paragon Properties. In the late 1980's Ron saw an emerging industry on the horizon and he transitioned from Real Estate to Environmental Assessment and Consulting. He opened Astex Environmental in 1988 and it quickly grew to offer services all across the state of Texas and beyond. Ron was a life-long entrepreneur and he continued to operate his environ-mental business until the day of his passing.

Ron met his beloved wife Charlotte in San Antonio and they were married for 60 years. They had two children, Christopher and Alexandra. He was a dedicated father and loved his family deeply.

Ron was a dedicated volunteer. When his children were young, he poured his energy into school and church functions supporting St. Peter's Catholic Church and accompanying school. In 1978 Ron joined the Alamo Heights Rotary and he was an enthusiastic and dedicated Rotarian for 48 years. Ron had a passion for leadership training and education and his favorite event sponsored by the Rotary Club was the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards known as RYLA. Ron was the Rotary District 5840 Chairman for RYLA for over 45 years and held that position until his passing. His involvement with RYLA and the Rotary Club brought Ron tremendous joy.

Ron and Charlotte are parishioners at St. Anthony de Padua Catholic Church. Ron was a devout Catholic with deep faith. He was a dedicated member of the church and delighted in being the greeter and usher for the 5:00 p.m. mass on Saturday evenings. He took great pleasure in greeting all parishioners with a smile and knew most of them by name.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 60 years, Charlotte Greenberg, his adoring children Christopher Greenberg and Alexandra Streblow and her husband Joshua Streblow. His grandchildren: Olivia Streblow, Jesper Greenberg, Bernadette Greenberg. His sister-in law Sieglinde Greenberg and her family- daughters Shelley Jacobs (John), Heidi Boyd (Michael), Gabi Chapman (Matt) and their families. His sister-in-law Martha (Marty) Greenberg and his niece Kelleigh Greenberg-Jephcott (Dominic).
