Obituary

Richard Frank "Richie" Saldana, 57, passed away on September 8, 2025, in San Antonio, Texas. Born on January 2, 1968, in Torrance, California, Richard brought joy and laughter to those around him throughout his life.

A proud graduate of John Marshall High School in the Class of 1986, Richard went on to build a career that reflected his vibrant personality and love for people. As the owner of Richard's Bartending Service, he made a name for himself in the hospitality industry with his charm and dedication. His work allowed him to connect with countless individuals over the years, many of whom became lifelong friends. Richard also lived for a time in both Dallas and Las Vegas but considered San Antonio home.

Richard's passions were as colorful and dynamic as he was. A true aficionado of music, he had a deep love for '80s and New Wave sounds but also embraced newer artists—though his favorite being Paula Abdul. Whether it was dancing all night to his favorite tunes or belting out songs during karaoke nights, Richard's energy was infectious. He had an unmistakable laugh—a snorting giggle that could light up any room—and a presence that made every gathering more memorable.

Movies were another of Richard's great loves. He especially enjoyed horror films and anything by John Hughes, often quoting lines from classic '80s movies with perfect timing. Bowling was a cherished pastime as well; he participated in a local bowling league alongside his parents, creating treasured memories that blended fun with family tradition.

He remained a free spirit with a big heart—always caring and always ready to lift others up. He was the beloved baby brother to three sisters and the quintessential uncle to his two nieces and later great niece and great nephews—fun-loving, supportive, and full of life.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents Dora and Moses Saldana.  He is survived by his sisters: Leticia Escobedo (Julian), Norma Saldana (Gary Hurt), Liche Cavazos (Celso); nieces: Chere Carpentier (Matthew), Kame Escobedo; great-niece Delilah and great-nephews: Sebastian and Maximilian.

Richard will be deeply missed by his family and numerous friends who were touched by his warmth, humor, and generous spirit. May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him and continue to inspire joy in their hearts.
