Richard Ronald DeMunbrun, Jr. (Rick), beloved husband, father, grandfather, son and brother, born on June 14, 1954, passed away April 25, 2014 after a short battle with cancer, with his family surrounding him. He is survived by his wife, Cathryne Gibson DeMunbrun; four daughters, Nicole DeMunbrun of Austin, Courtney Jones (Jeff) of Houston, Laura DeMunbrun of Houston, and Cynthia DeMunbrun of San Antonio; and one grandson, Jackson Jones. He is also survived by his parents, Margaret DeMunbrun of San Antonio, Richard DeMunbrun, Sr. (Elaine), of Cibolo; three sisters, Michelle Engler (John) of McLean, VA, Stephanie DeMunbrun (Frank Garcia) of Pflugerville and Renee Johnson of Dripping Springs; and numerous nieces, nephews and Godchildren. Rick graduated from Central Catholic High School and attended the University of Texas at Austin. While in Austin, he worked with disabled children and adults at the Austin State School. He later moved to Houston and then Brookshire to begin what would be a 36-year journey into the hearts and minds of his beloved students and citizens. A Memorial Rosary will be held on Monday, May 5 at 7:00 pm, St. Anthony de Padua Catholic Church, 102 Lorenz Road, San Antonio, TX 78209. A Memorial Mass will be held on Tuesday, May 6 at 11:00 am at St. Anthony de Padua Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: Special Recreation Services, Inc., 7301 Avenue F, Houston, Texas 77011. Burial will be private.
