Regina Marie Korus Cotter Bodine
Regina Bodine, 99, passed to the loving arms of Jesus on September 3, 2021. She was a native San Antonian, born August 25, 1922, to Frank S Korus and Matylda Padalecki Korus. Regina graduated from Brackenridge High School in 1940 as valedictorian, with numerous leadership roles in school activities including National Honor Society, Student Council, debate team, Latin Club, Purple Jackets, and ROTC 2 nd Lt Sponsor.
Regina will be remembered as an accomplished musician, receiving classical training by nuns at St Henry's Catholic Church – with numerous solo piano and organ performances at her church. She also loved to play her accordion. Regina was a dancing enthusiast, excelling in tap and ballroom dancing. In her later years, Regina was active in square dancing, traveling to different square dance events throughout the state with her husband Roy Bodine.
Her family will remember her as soft spoken, but fiercely independent and strong willed. Regina inherited her love of the land from her father, Frank Korus, who was a stockman with a ranch in Hondo County near Devine, Texas, and she continued his legacy of cattle ranching on a part-time basis. A lifelong student of good health and nutrition, Regina always had technical reading material at hand and freely shared her knowledge and good advice to family and friends.
Regina had an interesting working career – starting out back in the day as a telephone company operator. She then worked for The Order of Daedalians, a fraternal and professional order of American military pilots, at Kelly AFB. And for many years she was a member of the office team at Orville Carr Associates, designers of fine homes and interiors, in San Antonio.
She is survived by two children, Cathleen (David) McClure of San Antonio and Carolyn (Chuck) Roberts of Port Lavaca; sister, Lorraine Haglund of Devine; nephews Donald Haglund of Hondo, Alvin Korus of Bigfoot, Nathan Korus of Saginaw, Daniel Korus of Corpus Christi; seven grandchildren, four greatgrandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands: Gerald G Cotter, Tommy Parr, and Col. Roy Bodine, and brothers: Louis Korus and Edward Korus.
