Obituary

Raymond J. Vale, Sr.
(December 19, 1939- July 25, 2022)

Our beloved Raymond J. Vale, Sr. passed away on Monday, July 25, at the age of 82. Raymond was born on December 19, 1939 in Los Saenz, Texas where he was one of nine children born to parents Joseph and Maria Vale.

Raymond was a master musician, educator, inventor, and so much more. He started his career journey by moving to San Antonio from Los Saenz to attend and graduate from St. Mary's University with a Bachelor's degree in music education. Ray then became a band director. He went on to serve in the US Air Force. He then ventured back into higher education, going to school in the evenings to obtain his Master's degree. This paved the way for him to become assistant principal at Burbank High School. He completed other career ventures including becoming the top salesperson nationally for a pharmaceutical company, owning a funeral home, and starting an insurance agency. Through all these career paths, he always found his way back to his main passion, music. He ultimately had his own piano business which included tuning, moving, repairing, and restoring pianos. It was in these musical endeavors that he also became an inventor.

Raymond was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was a fisherman, handyman, hunter, chef extraordinaire, master storyteller, and really a jack of all trades. He graced us with that 'larger than life' charisma and sharp wit. He had a way of touching people's hearts through love and laughter. He never missed an opportunity to get in front of a crowd and speak proudly of his children and wife. He will be greatly missed and forever loved and cherished.

He was preceded in death by his wife Emma, his father Joseph and mother Maria, and siblings: Robert, Joel, Franklin, Juanita, Irma, and Sylvia.

He is survived by his sons Raymond Jr., Steven and Chris, and daughter Sandra; his daughters-in-law: Judi, Mary, Melissa, and Mercedes; his son-in-law Andrew Morales; his grandson-in-law Patrick Griffin (Britny); his grandchildren: Britny, Eli, Treci, Evelyn, Madison, Liana, Sammy, Matty, and Aiden; his great-grandchild Genevieve Marie; and his two surviving siblings: Margil and Albert.
