Our Dad, loving husband, grandpa, dear brother, friend and a son of God, Ramón E. González, was born on June 15, 1945, in San Antonio, Texas to loving and hard-working parents. He quietly left this Earth to unite with our Lord on Sept. 9, 2025. He is preceded in death by his father Roberto R. González and by his mother Clementina V. González. He is survived by his wife Irma L. González, his daughter Anna L. Garza (Edward D. Garza), his son Ramón E. González Jr. (Melissa C. González) and his three grandchildren, Myles Beresford-González, Gunnison Beresford- González and Walkyr Beresford-González. He is also survived by his siblings, Carolina C. Garza, Elvira A. Serrano (José), María Del Carmen González, and Roberto B. González (Lourdes).
As a young boy, Ramón attended Ogden Elementary School and Christ the King Catholic School. During his youth, he helped his father at the Comet Gasoline Station on General McMullen Dr. on weekends and during his summer vacation. He then graduated from Holy Cross High School in 1963. Ramón attended San Antonio College and received his certificate in electronics while he worked for Specia Plumbing and Electric on Houston St. since the age of 14 as a salesman, until he began his 22-year career with Mexicana Airlines in 1976. He married his wife on September 3, 1967, and recently celebrated their 58th anniversary.
During his retirement, after 1998, he furthered his education and attended San Antonio College to start the continuing education programs. In 2012 he graduated from UTSA with a bachelor's degree in accounting. He excelled in math, enjoyed reading, learning as much as he could, which made him very knowledgeable and would share that knowledge with all of us. He was a selfless man.
Throughout his life, Ramón worked very hard to provide for his family and ensured that his children receive a well-rounded education. He enjoyed traveling throughout México with his family, giving them memorable experiences of a lifetime. Dad was a strong and determined man who loved living life. His devotion to La Santísima Virgen María De Guadalupe was evident when he would distribute the image of her to family members after arriving from a trip to México. He enjoyed listening to the current news of the day and always shared his point of view on certain topics/events that affected the vulnerable in our society. Later in life, Dad, Mom and I attended mass at Christ the King Church on Saturdays or Sundays to pray and give thanks to God for the many blessings we had received.
Dad, we will miss you greatly and know that your contributions to our family and to society will live on forever. You were a great man of strength and faith and your good deeds in life will continue to inspire others always. Thank you for all your love as a husband, as a father, as a grandpa and a son of God always providing constant support and teaching us to grow in faith with our Lord. We love you!
