Qian-Hong "Melanie" Crosby returned to God on April 17, 2017. She was born on November 2, 1965, in Keelung, Taiwan. Her father had fled there from China in 1949, at the age of 20, to escape from the communists in the revolution.
She studied at the English School in Taipei, graduating with a degree in Education. To further her studies she came to the U.S. in 1993, first to San Antonio, where she met her future husband, Kevin. She received a Master's Degree in Special Education from the University of Southwest Missouri in 1995 and returned to Taipei to help develop a pre-school for special needs children.
She was married to Dr. Kevin Crosby in 1999 and continued to work in special education until the birth of their children, William Conner, now 15 and Gwynne Bernice, 12.
Her special loves were music and art, both of which she shared with and encouraged in her children. Her devotion to education was remarkable, and inspired both family and friends. Melanie's honesty, humility and patience were gifts that will be greatly missed.
She is survived also by her mother, Peng Chin-Feng, and three brothers, Chih-Hsing, Kuo-Fei and Rong-Sheng, in Taipei.
Funeral Mass will be offered Saturday, April 22nd at 1:00 P.M. at St. Luke's Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park.
