Pruny was born November 30, 1937, in Pittsburgh, Pa. When she was 12, her aunt and uncle asked her to visit them in San Antonio, for the summer - when it was time to go home, they asked her to stay. She always said this was the turning point of her life. Her aunt and uncle asked her to give them 25 cents a week, to help with her care, so from the time she was 12, she always had a job. She first worked at Rexall Drug and then at the Majestic Theater as a candy girl. They moved from school district to school district, but when they moved into the Jefferson High School area, she blossomed and won the lead in several school plays.
After high school, when she was employed by USAA, a co-worker entered her into the Miss San Antonio contest, without her knowledge. He told her the day before the contest. She didn't even have a bathing suit to wear, so she borrowed her cousins (without her knowledge) and won the contest. (All her cousin had to say was "That is my bathing suit!"). She really enjoyed her year as Miss San Antonio, but she declined all offers to enter show business.
In 1959 she met the love of her life, Edward Heusinger, while they were bowling with a common friend. Eddie was captain of the bowling team and there began a whirlwind romance that ended with 47 years of marriage. Pruny and Eddie were very firm believers in Catholic education. They were very active and devoted to St. Peter Prince of the Apostles school and gave numerous scholarships.
Pruny was a wonderful homemaker. She was a fantastic cook and loved to entertain family and friends, especially for the holidays. She always made our house a home and Christmas was the best time of the year. After her children were grown, she started a business, Renovations by Heusinger, with her daughter. They spent many memorable years in the construction and vacation rental business.
Pruny was predeceased by her loving husband of 47 years, Edward, Catherine and George Rees (her aunt and uncle), Mary Davis (her mother),Cecilia Resendez and MaryAnn Jarrell (her sisters) and Andrew Heusinger (her grandson).
She is survived by her children Rose Marie (Chris Nellis) and Patrick and her beloved grandchildren: Danny, Adriana, Brendan, Anise, Colette, Chloe, PJ, Michael and Emma and her great grandchildren: Cason, Zayn and Liam. She is also survived by her sister Dorthy Schramm and brother Tom Davis.
Serving as Pallbearers: Daniel Khalil. Philip Christian, David Jarrell and Jonathan Jarrell
