Our sweet Petra, beloved aunt, sister, daughter, and mother at times to many loved ones, was born on June 18, 1927 in San Antonio and passed into the Lord's hands on February 28, 2018 at her home in the same city where her life began.

Petra, as a young woman cared for her many nieces and nephews much as a loving mother would do for her children, providing love and guidance throughout their lives.  Without any formal education, she proved that one could have a career with dignity and grace while serving over 45 years as a housekeeper at Our Lady of the Lake University.  It was a place she loved and a duty she held with pride as demonstrated by her work ethic and dedication.

Petra retired in 2003, having purchased her own home in 1995, a place where her loved ones could visit for a home cooked meal of chorizo and bean tacos or just for a relaxing time with someone who gave them unconditional love and care.

In summary, Petra Reyes was a life lived well over 90 years without pretense yet with a true love and faith in her Lord and Savior.  She forever will be loved and missed by all those that now so deeply grieve her passing.

She was preceded in death by her siblings, Juan, Pedro, and Josephine.  Petra is survived by her nieces, Mary Robinson, Rosie Rodriguez, Gloria Sandoval, and Anna Cabello; as well as her nephews, Ruben Reyes and Ernest Reyes.  These are all children of Juan B. Reyes, Jr., her oldest brother.  She is also survived by other family including many loving grand-nieces and grand-nephews and their children.

A Rosary will be recited on Wednesday, March 7, at 7:00 P.M. at the Angelus Chapel.  Funeral Mass will be offered on Thursday, March 8, at 11:00 A.M. at St. Jude Catholic Church.  Interment will follow in San Fernando Cemetery # 2.
