Mr. Pete Gutierrez, III age 52 of San Antonio passed away on Thursday, January 3, 2019.  Pete served in the military on multiple occasions.  He was active duty with the U.S. Navy from August 1992 – August 1994.  He enlisted as active duty with the U.S. Army from April 1995 – April 1997 where he completed studies as a Practical Nurse and continued in the reserves to October 2002.   He transitioned to the National Guard in October 2002 to October 2005.  Pete re-enlisted in the Army Reserves from November 2010 to November 2017.

He worked for University Health Systems as Hemo dialysis technician for the past 17 years.  He took pride in providing the best care for his patients.

Pete is survived by his wife of 24 years Barbara Flores Gutierrez; daughter, Aleksa R. Gutierrez, daughter Krystle A. Garza and husband Michael; 3 grandsons, Nicholas, Nathaniel and Noah Garza; his parents, Pete D. Gutierrez, Jr. and Estella Gutierrez; brothers, Michael Gutierrez and wife Diane, and Raymond Gutierrez; sister, Miriam Gutierrez; 10 Nieces and Nephews; 5 great nieces and nephews and multiple uncles, aunts and cousins.

Pete loved his family and always considered himself as a protector of his loved ones.  He had a brotherly love with his best friends from childhood (Francisco, Ernest, Joe, Martin and Orlando).

He was a loving husband, father, grandpa and a best friend.

FUNERAL SERVICES

Visitation will begin on Thursday, January 17 ^th at 5:00 P.M. with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 P.M. at the Angelus Chapel.  Funeral Mass will be offered on Friday, January 18 ^th at 9:45 A.M. at St. Pius X Catholic Church.  Interment will follow in Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery with military honors.
