Paul Thaddeus Granato, 77, peacefully entered eternal rest with his family by his side on July 27, 2023.
Paul was born on February 21, 1946, in San Antonio, TX to Mike and Rose Granato. He graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1964 and from St. Mary's University in 1968 with a BBA in Personnel Management. He was a member of the Tau Delta Fraternity while attending St. Mary's University. He proudly served his country as a 1st Lieutenant in the United States Army 1969-1971. His duty stations included Ft. Sill, Oklahoma; Fort Hood, Texas; and the Republic of Vietnam. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Overseas Service Bar, Army Commendation Medal, and Bronze Star Medal.
Following his discharge from the Army, Paul pursued his career in Human Resources and Administrative Services where he spent most of his career working at Fairchild Aircraft Corporation and finally retiring from Prime Medical Services, Inc. in 2007 as Vice President of Human Resources.
Paul was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mike Granato and Rose Lecocke Granato. He leaves behind his devoted and precious wife of 55 years, Anita Billings Granato; son, Dr. Michael Paul Granato, and his wife, Lacey of Boerne, TX; daughter, Leslie Rose Ward, and her husband, Kevin of Missouri City, TX; grandchildren, Isabella Granato, Paul Michael Granato, Gavriella Granato, Tessa Granato, Jack Ward, Davis Ward, and Berkley Ward; brother Jake Granato, and wife Dee of San Antonio, TX, and numerous beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.
To know Paul was to love him. He had a quiet, strong, and stern presence to most, and once he let you in, you were forever a cherished part of his life. There was absolutely nothing he took more pride in than his family, or valued more than his numerous best friends that became his family. If there was one thing Paul knew how to do, it was to have fun. He had a love for travel and any given year you were likely to find him on the beaches in Hawaii, tasting wine in Napa, or pushing his luck in Las Vegas. Oh, the stories he could tell from those trips! He also enjoyed all sports, whether it was playing basketball for his high school team in his younger days, playing on his work bowling, basketball, and softball leagues, coaching his son's baseball teams, cheering on his Championship Spurs teams, enjoying some "friendly" competition on his Fantasy Football leagues, following all his grandkids many extracurricular activities, and in his retirement years, playing golf with his favorite buddies.
Paul will always be in the hearts and memories of those who knew and loved him.
