Olga Cardenas, devoted and beloved wife of Gustavo Cardenas, mother and grandmother went to be with our Lord Saturday December 12, 2020.
She was preceded in her departure by her parents, Jesus and Estelia Delgado, sisters Amparo Benavidez and Enriqueta Garcia; survived by sister Rosario Sanchez and Aunt Isabel Rodriguez.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years Gustavo Cardenas; sons, Gustavo (Eva), Alex, Oscar (Barbara), Javier (Denise), and Edward (Marivel); grandchildren Jonathan, Danielle, Karina, Carissa, Analise, Deandra, Oscar, Sarah, Xavier, and Edward.
Olga Cardenas was born in Monterrey, Mexico to Jesus and Estelia Delgado, July 28, 1934. She met and later married Gustavo in Monterrey September 1, 1957. Shortly after, they moved to San Antonio, Texas where they would raise their beautiful family. For many years her home was a place that brought family and friends together, emulating her kindhearted, unconditional love. Olga was famous for her cooking. Her home was open for whom ever came by and she made sure you knew there was always room at her kitchen table. She was an active member of St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church and served for many years as a Guadalupana. As the loving and supportive mother that she was, Olga looked forward to cheering on her five sons as student-athletes at Edison high school. Later as adults she continued to wholeheartedly support her sons in their coaching and professional careers. Her family was her pride and joy in life, especially her ten grandchildren. She valued nothing more than the time spent together with her family. Olga was humble, gracious, caring and loved by so many. She is already so dearly missed. Her life will continue to be honored through the lives of her family.
We thank all for understanding that due to the current health situation, all final arrangements will be private.
