Obituary

Nancy Carol Germann went to claim her reward in Heaven on November 11, 2016 after a valiant battle with cancer. She was born in Detroit, Michigan to Gale and Beulah Mead, lived in St. Clair Shores, MI and grew up and went to Lakeshore High School, Detroit College of Business and two community colleges in Dade County, Florida. She had two siblings: Barbara Ann Mead Carey, and Gale Lee Mead, both of whom are deceased.

She stayed in Michigan for a total of 25 years. During those years she worked diligently for her father in his office machine business in Detroit and later, for the following 45 years, worked in the same business in San Antonio, Texas for Tom Burkholder Co. and finally Consolidated Office Systems. She made many, many friends in each of her activities due to her kind and considerate nature and concern for the well being of those whom she worked.

She had two successful marriages, the first with Thomas J. Burkholder. They had one son, Kristopher Mark Burkholder; and the second with Colonel (Ret) David B. Germann for the last 13 years of her life. In her first marriage she experienced a variety of adventurous activities including scuba diving, motorcycle riding, sail boating, and learned to fly a light aircraft. In the second, she loved to travel and saw every major area of The United States enjoying the unique characteristics that each had to offer.

Throughout her life she showed the world what a beautiful, loving, caring, kind, and considerate woman she was. Early on she loved theater work and participated in the theater productions. She loved it well enough to where she participated in a traveling company of Shakespearean actors.

Later, she concentrated on serving others and was particularly active in church and volunteer activities. At the Church of the Holy Spirit she participated in: The Eucharistic Minister and Homebound Communion Ministry, and The St. Vincent DePaul Society, at the Church of The Holy Trinity, she participated in #2261 of the Catholic Daughters, The Rosary Makers Group, and the Holy Trinity Prayer Shawls group. She also volunteered at the San Antonio Metropolitan Ministries Homeless Shelter and The Fisher Houses.

Nancy is survived by her husband, Colonel (Ret) David B. Germann; her son, Kristopher Mark Burkholder, Shauna (Scott) Hart, Christopher (Leigh) Germann, Tim (Joy) Germann, two stepchildren; Tommy J. (Susan) Burkholder Jr., Deborah A. (Bruce) Burkholder Witter, and numerous grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many of the Mead family.
