Obituary

Mike Jacoby passed quietly in SATX April 4th 2020 on the eve of Psalm Sunday at the age of 65. He fought the tough fight against cancer.

Mike was born in Fort Worth TX on April 20th 1954. He was raised in Junction TX with his parents Doris and Harold Jacoby and his only brother Ken. He attended Junction High School class of 73. He later moved to San Antonio TX where he remained until his death.

Raised on a ranch in Junction he embraced that small town country livin' lifestyle. Some of his favorite stories or achievements were based around Junction. He truly loved his hometown. He excelled as a football player and track during High School. He managed to always return to get his annual hair cut from his one and only barber Oscar even if he only had 10 hairs left. He made lifelong friendships and life long memories that he cherished until the end. Being a country boy, one of his most prized possessions was his cowboy hat. His wife Marie never owned a pair of cowboy boots and she now owns 5 pairs bc of Mike. He was at peace living a simple life. He knew how to relax, not to sweat the small stuff and he would sit back and enjoy each and every ride. One of his favorite past times was his cheering for his favorite team, The Dallas Cowboys. His was fascinated with Tom Landry and the history of the team. He relished in their glory, their championships and continued to cheer for them during their ups and downs. Mike was a truck driver with a pristine driving record and nothing about his illness could slow him down. He enjoyed the open road and his favorite route was to Laredo TX. He admired the culture, the environment, and their community. One of Mike's favorite hobbies was drag racing. From the roar of the engine to the finish line, Mike always had a special grin on his face. His favorite race car driver was John Force.

Mike stood tall, stood proud, he would never let you down if he could help it. After his diagnosis, his tenacity, strength and determination grew fierce. He took cancer head on. Because he had more livin' to do. His greatest accomplishment was becoming a father to Jaclyn in 2001. It was then he learned just what unconditional love is. That love grew to include his wife Marie's 3 daughters Danielle, Meagan and Haley. He was blessed with the privilege of becoming a PoPo in 2017 and 2018. He was brave each and every day for all of his girls. He fought a good fight. Although we know he didn't win the battle, Mike always told us to remember, "I'm not here for a long time, I'm here for a good time" one of his favorite songs by his favorite artist George Strait.

Mike is survived by his daughter Jaclyn Jacoby, brother Ken (Deb) Jacoby, wife Marie Jacoby, daughters Danielle, Meagan, and Haley, granddaughters McKenzie Esquivel and Emerson Carrillo.

We want to thank Embrace Hospice, START Cancer Treatment, Dr. Beerman and his empowering staff for their guidance, patience and loving bedside manner.

At this time, we will have to postpone Mike's Memorial to a later date due to the pandemic.
