Miguel E. Orozco of Eagle Lake, Texas passed away on June 24 th , 2021 at the age of 95 with his family by his side as a result of a long battle with Lewy Body Dementia. He was born to Julian Barrios Orozco and Maria de Avila Escobedo Orozco of Eagle Lake, TX. on July 5 th ,1925. His family consisted of three brothers and seven sisters.
In 1932 at the age of 7, our father's family moved to Anagua, Mexico where he attended school up to the sixth grade as he was needed to work at the family farm. In 1948 at the age of 23 he and his family moved to Laredo, Mexico where he owned a neighborhood store and sold groceries to those in the community, before moving to San Antonio, TX in 1962 at the age of 37.
In 1962 after moving to San Antonio, his brother Louis helped our Dad gain full time employment with North East Independent School District.
Our Dad worked at Robert E. Lee High School as a Custodian for a year and then moved to Winston Churchill High School where he retired after 25 years of faithful service on August 31 st , 1990.
He met our Mom; Pauline Casarez Martinez at a dance and a couple of years later they married on August 21 st , 1965. Upon marrying our Mom he instantly became a Dad to seven children, a Grandfather, an Uncle and a friend to so many.
Our Dad and Mom owned a small flea market on Commercial where they sold goods they purchased in Laredo, TX. They would take trips to Laredo to purchase goods during the week.
Our Dad was a humble man and had a heart of gold. He was always helping others out. When he owned his store and people couldn't pay he would give them their merchandise without charging them. If they had credit and couldn't pay he looked the other way and forgave the debt. Our Dad never complained about anything and just accepted the fate life dealt him. He was a faithful Man and put all his trust in God. Our Father's favorite past time was playing baseball and dancing.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Maria de Avila Escobedo Orozco and Julian Barrios Orozco, his siblings: Julia Guajardo, Salome Orozco, Jesus Orozco, Francisca Orozco, Luis Orozco, Antonia Orozco, Jose Orozco, Maria Orozco Gomez, Esther Duran his wife Pauline Orozco, his step-daughters, Susie E. Moreno, Mary Puente and his step-son, Alex Moreno.
