Michael H. Arriaga went to be with our Lord Jesus on Monday, October 30th, 2023, after a brief illness. Michael passed peacefully surrounded by family, friends and loved ones.
Michael was first and foremost a family man. He worked tirelessly to provide for their every need. Michael was a man of integrity, compassion, perseverance, warmth, happiness and loyalty. "No" was not a word in his vocabulary. If there was a way to do something, Michael knew the way.
Michael worked for the City of San Antonio over the last 24 years in the Human Resources department culminating as Administrative Assistant in the Fire Chief's Office. The San Antonio Fire Department was Michael's second family. Known as the "Wolf" by Chief Hood and the entire staff, no mission or task was too difficult for Michael. HE GOT IT DONE!
Michael was an avid sports fan. He loved the Dallas Cowboys, San Antonio Spurs and Chicago Cubs. His love of sports, especially baseball, led him to serve in the community as an umpire for youth baseball. Nothing made him happier than calling balls and strikes while helping the kids develop, compete, flourish and have fun. Michael often spent most Weekends umpiring multiple games.
Bottom line, Michael was a man with a heart of gold. Loved and respected by all he ever met or came into contact with.
Michael is survived by his loving wife Amparo, 2 sons Michael Henry Jr. (Dada) and Joshua Matthew (Pops) Arriaga, brothers Charlie (Brenda) and Willie (Monica) Arriaga, and Aunt Irene Cavazos. His father and mother-in-law Mario and Amelia Carvajal, sisters and brother-in-law Laura and Scott Mair, Martha Carvajal (Edward Villesca), brother and sister-in-law Miguel and Sandra Carvajal, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was proceeded in death by his parents Henry G. Arriaga, and Mary Louise Delgado Arriaga.
