Dr. Mary Jean Wood, M.D. died on May 17, 2018 in her San Antonio home.  She was born in St. Louis, MO on February 17, 1931.

She attended Catholic grade school and graduated from Coyle High School in Kirkwood.  She received a Bachelor's degree cum laude from Webster College in 1952.  She did pre-med studies at St. Louis University and received her M.D. degree from the University of Missouri Medical School in 1963.

Dr. Wood began her medical career as an intern in internal medicine at the University of Missouri Medical Center.  She continued there as a Research Associate and as an instructor in psychology and pathology.

She moved to San Antonio in 1972 and was Chief Resident for Anatomic Pathology at the University of Texas Health Science Center.  She continued her work as a Cytopathologist for a private firm.  In 1977, she served as Public Health Physician II for the San Antonio Metropolitan Health District until her retirement.

Dr. Wood was a gracious hostess who loved cooking and baking.  She also delighted in international travel and was a member of the Travelers' Century Club, which means she had visited more than 100 countries.

Her parents, William Douglas Wood and Helen (Keefe) Wood, and her brother, Bro. Robert D. Wood, S.M. preceded her in death.  Numerous cousins will remember her.

FUNERAL SERVICES

There will be a viewing at the Marianist Residence Chapel
at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, May 29th followed by a
Mass of Transferal at 11:00 A.M.
The chapel is located at 520 Fordham Ave.

She will be buried in St. Louis, Missouri at
Calvary Cemetery in the family plot.
