Obituary

Mrs. Mary Louise Ortegon age 87 of San Antonio was called to her heavenly home on Wednesday, December 23, 2015 guided by angels and predeceased family. Mary, born August 20, 1928, was raised in a loving family and was a life-time member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church. She dedicated her life to faithful service to her family and St. Patrick's through countless acts of charity and modeled for all a quiet resolve to realize a true Christian journey. As a member and past president of the St. Patrick's Altar Society, she cleaned the church, baked goodies, cooked, sold items at church events, and taught religious classes to children.

As a breast cancer survivor, Mary professionally fitted other survivors with undergarments to help them face their surgeries with dignity in the 60s and 70s when there were not many options for women facing this. Due to her expertise in this field, she earned diamond-level status in sales at Joske's Department Store and Foleys. In totality, Mary Louise nourished many physically, mentally, and spiritually whether at work, church or home. The time had come for her to be sustained through eternal rest and salvation.

Mrs. Ortegon was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar Ortegon, parents Luis and Francisca Rodriguez, brother Luis Rodriguez, and sister Olivia Castillo. She is survived by her children and their spouses: Oscar Ortegon (Kathryn), Diana Olague (Bill), and Carlos Ortegon (Ann); siblings: Rachel Marin (Al), Hortense Cardenas, and Joe Rodriguez (Mary Ann); grandchildren: Natasha Olague, Andrea Olague, Nichol Rodriguez (Jolly), Chelsea Ortegon, and Cassandra Ortegon; great-grandchildren: Mia Isabella Olague, Matthew Robert Garcia, and Ranger Blue Rodriguez; and numerous nieces and nephews.
