Mary Montemayor, 93, of San Antonio, passed away peacefully, leaving a legacy of love, faith, and family that will continue to guide generations.

Born on April 6, 1932, in San Antonio, she was the youngest child of Dario and Evelina Max. Mary was deeply proud of her brothers, Richard, who served in the U.S. Navy, and George, whose strength helped him overcome paralysis. Alongside her brothers Richard and George, she helped carry on the family business, Max Feed Store, founded by her father. She also lovingly carried the memory of her sister, Zulema, whose intellect and kindness inspired her throughout her life.

In 1951, Mary married the love of her life, Alfonso Montemayor. Together they operated Montemayor Grocery Store, a beloved downtown San Antonio family business.

She was a devoted mother to Martha Gonzalez (Hector) and Richard Montemayor (Linda); cherished grandmother to Maria Cantu (Charlie), Laura Hernandez (Domingo), Elizabeth Wilhelm (Brian), and Adam Montemayor; and proud great-grandmother to Valentina, Cruz, Evelyn, Lucia, and Angelica.

A 1950 graduate of Ursuline High School, Mary loved family gatherings, faith, music, reading, bingo, flowers, and art.

Special thanks to Don at Sacred Heart Hospice and Alexandra, Amapola, and Emma at Pecan Views for their loving care.

She will be deeply missed, forever loved, and always in our hearts.
