Mary Dolores "Lola" Rizzo was called to heaven on May 6, 2022 at the age of 87.  She is preceded in death by her mother, Theresa Guido; brothers, Adolph and wife Gladys, and Charlie and wife Cookie.

She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Louis A. Rizzo, and their four children Tom Rizzo and wife Susan, Mark Rizzo and wife Joan, Victoria Lopez and husband Michael, and Deanna Collier and husband Danny, 13 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

Born on January 2, 1935 in San Antonio, Texas, Lola grew up in a close Italian community.  She attended Providence High School where she graduated in 1953. After graduation she worked as a clerk for Household Furniture.  In 1957, she married Louie Rizzo upon his return from the Army.  They settled in San Antonio and had four children.  All four of their children attended Mount Sacred Heart Catholic School.  Lola was always involved at MSH helping the sisters and volunteering as a room mom. Once her two sons were off to college, Lola worked for several years as school secretary at MSH where she made lifelong friends with the school parents and the Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Lola was an active member of the Christopher Columbus Italian Society Ladies Auxiliary where she served as President in 1983. She was also very active at San Francesco di Paola Church and a member of the Altar & Rosary Society. She enjoyed spending time with her family, cooking delicious meals and watching the Spurs play.

If you talked to Lola for even a few minutes, you would know that her grandchildren and great grandchildren were her pride and joy.  She traveled near and far as often as she could to visit, take care of, and spoil them rotten.  She was very proud of her family, as they were of her.  Family was everything to her and she will be greatly missed.

Visitation will be held Thursday, May 26th, at 6:00 pm at San Francesco di Paola Catholic Church with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 pm. The Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated on Friday, May 27th, at 10:00 am at San Francesco di Paola Catholic Church with interment at Holy Cross Cemetery to follow.
