Obituary

Mary Elizabeth Hannah, beloved wife, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend, passed away and was guided into eternal peace on September 1, 2025.

Born in San Antonio, Mary later made her home with her husband, Richard, in Huntsville, Alabama. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and adventure, often retreating to their cherished cabin in Tennessee where Mary found peace and joy.

Mary brought warmth, kindness, and generosity to everyone she met. She had a gift for making others feel at home, often through the incredible meals she lovingly prepared. A born cook, she poured her heart into every dish, creating food that nourished both body and spirit. Nothing was more fun or satisfying than sharing a meal with Mary, whose table was always filled with laughter, love, and wine.

Mary poured the same love and dedication into her career as she did into her family. She previously held the position of president of Flasher Equipment Co., where she led with compassion, determination, and a true sense of purpose. Through her involvement in the American Traffic Safety Services Association (ATSSA), she advanced highway safety and built friendships along the way.

Her adventurous spirit carried her across the world, tearing it up in Amsterdam, Paris, Rome and London with her friends and family. Whether traveling abroad or spending time close to home, Mary found joy in connecting with people, making new friends, sharing stories, and experiencing life to the fullest.

To her family, she was affectionately known as Betsy. To her cousins, Betsy was more than family—she was a sister, a confidant, and a constant source of love. Her generosity knew no bounds; she would give you the shirt off her back without hesitation. Her hearty laugh, which filled every room with light, will be dearly missed.

Mary is survived by her devoted husband, Richard A. Hannah; her mother, Ernestine Roser; her sister and brother-in-law, Carol and Rudy Marquez; her adored nieces and nephews: Chelsea (Cameron), Aron, Luke, Chuck and Jamie; great-niece, Frances. She is also survived by her stepchildren, Selena Diane Hannah and Richard Adam Hannah, her granddaughter, Rose Channel Hannah, with Zeritha Stewart; aunts and uncle, Tillie Ransom and Elia and Zaragoza Robles. She will be forever cherished by her extended family and countless friends.

Mary's life was a testament to love, kindness, and generosity.

She will be remembered always and missed beyond measure.
