Mary Elizabeth Grothues, nee Schoenborn, was born on December 16, 1918 in San Antonio, Texas. She entered into eternal reward on September 12, 2014. Mary was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Bernard Henry Grothues, Sr. and grandsons Douglas Joseph Grothues and Allen Clarence Ludwig, Jr. She is survived by her children Mary Jo Ludwig (Allen), Ben H. Grothues, Jr. (Linda), Patricia Gossmann (Robert), Jerome Grothues (Tammy) and Jeff Grothues (Linda). She is also survived by nine grandchildren: Amy Conner (Kevin), Theresa Cruz (Sergio), Beth Lopez (Rick), Michael Grothues, Christa Grothues, Jennifer Gossmann, Ross Grothues, Joshua Grothues, and Kaitlyn Grothues; and two great-grandchildren: Megan Conner and Sarah Conner. The family would like to thank the caregivers and staff at Morningside Ministries at Chandler House and Vitas Hospice Care. Visitation will begin on Thursday, September 18, at 5:00 P.M. with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 P.M. at the Angelus Chapel. Funeral Mass will be offered on Friday, September 19 at 10:00 A.M at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church. Burial will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Peter's - St. Joseph's Children's Home (St. PJ's).
