Mary was born January 8, 1933 in San Antonio, Texas. She attended Incarnate Word high school and the University of St. Thomas in Houston Texas. Mary was also a member of St. Monica's Guild of San Antonio, one of the oldest Catholic women's organizations in the city.
Mary loved politics and supported politicians that were advocates for children and the homeless. Mary and her granddaughter Heather attended a political convention in Baltimore to promote these positions. When Mary was approached by the homeless she gave whatever she had with love and a smile.
She loved parties and traveling with her children on vacation. Weekend trips to the beach or the Texas hill country. Mary was a master of Trivial Pursuit…….everyone fought to get her on their team. She was the secret weapon.
Mary was gifted in the arts, dance, music, painting and poetry. But there was a special gift many did not know about. She was funny. She performed in many of the comedy clubs in Austin and San Antonio and was well loved. Her favorite skit was a school Crossing Guard mom.
But most of all she loved her family and the Lord. When she was first married she was unable to have children. Mary was steadfast in her faith and believed that the Lord would give her the desires of her heart. After much prayer, the children came in abundance. No matter the situation….Mary's faith held strong and this gift was passed on to her children.
