Our beloved mother, Mary Sue Castillo passed away peacefully on April 14, 2026 at the age of 86.  She was surrounded by her children who loved her endlessly and embraced her journey towards heaven.

Born in San Antonio, Texas, the daughter of Augustine and Esther Vaca, Mary spent most of her career as a data clerk for SAISD.  Mary loved her family deeply and treasured each moment with them.  She loved her dog, Penny, loved yard sales, gardening, singing, reading, watching TBN daily and loved our great God.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Augustine Vaca and Esther Vaca; her husband of 60 years, Sgt. Maj. Joe Castillo III; sisters: Gloria, Sylvia and Yolanda; grandson, Ernest Moya; great-grandson, Reyes.

Mary is survived by her daughters: Anna Castro and Cynthia Moya Larson; sons: Joe Castillo, Jr., and John Castillo, who never left her side; sons-in-law: Warren Larson and Rene Castro; brothers: Tito, Beto and George; grandchildren: Yvette Guerra, Reyes De Leon, Kimberly Moya, Amanda Ramos, Heather Watkins and Jason Castro; great-grandchildren: Kalle, Nathan, Gavin, Julian, Dylan, Grant, Sophia, Hazel and Ian; great-great-grandchildren: Amelia and Marianna.

Many thanks to our hospice nurse and our guardian angel, Cherly for the care and support she gave to our mother and our family.  We would also like to thank our Summit Church family who came by and prayed with our mom and brought her great joy.
